Yeah right. It will probably be a 32 or maybe 48 Shader pipelines card, and I'm not sure they started/finalized the specs...

That information has long since been discredited. Some jackoff made those up on a forum (forget which one). One of the guys posting there thought it would be a good joke to give that to megagames and since it has spread all over the web.

Specs = fake

I can see the posts now:

Man, the smart thing to do is to skip this generation altogether, wait for the REAL cards come out next year! Besides, there are no games my 9700Pro cannot run at very high settings now! Yep, you guys that get R520s and G70s, I'll be owning you then! Wait and see!

If I had a buck for everytime I've seen the above with different card names inserted over the years, there would be less working and more gaming for me this week.

A cheap attempt by ATI to try and distract from a product available Wednesday that they have absolutely no answer to.

How do you know ATI leaked these "specifications" ?
Some fanboy could have just made them up.

Its because its quite obvious that Rollo has always favored nVidia over ATI. Oh he'll buy and "support" ATI, but its obvious he favors nVidia. No big deal, seriously...although it does rile up the ATI fans ;)

Lately I'm a way bigger nVidia fan, that is for sure. In the past I've favored ATI, have always loved their desktop/2d.

Things go in cycles, perhaps someday I'll favor them again. They haven't given me much to get excited about of late.
(although my Asus X800XT PE was one sweet card)

nVidia has just made some more interesting enthusiast hardware lately, starting with the 5800U.
Whatever else you say about it, the FlowFX was like something straight out of a casemodders shop- "Need to run 500/1000? No problem- we'll bolt turbo vac 3 on!" (not too mention the ultra high quality pcp, fastest DDR2 seen at that point, smaller die size)
They've just continued on from there, offering cards that made buying parts FUN again.

ATI has been WAY too generic for the last few years.

Puff, puff, pass Rollo? Since when is plunking down $300+ for a video card "fun" ? It's using the card in games that's fun, last I checked. I'd take ATI's quiet "generic" experience of quiet cards over 2 minutes of oohing and aahing, followed by months of cursing nVidia's hair-dryer inspired Flow-FX cooling system.

From the article:

According to recent news, originating in Canada, spread on a few hardware forums the new ATI R600 chip will be released around November/December 2006.

^ Yup, definitely a reliable source there. It's ATI, no doubt; after all, the sources 'originated in Canada.' We only have one meeting area here in Canada, and everybody knows everyone else's name. It keeps things simple ;) .

I wasn't falling for Rollo's patient 5800 FX bait. Jiffy, you should know by now!

I... can't... resist. It's conditioned at a Pavlovian level.

Seriously, I'm just bored. shabby actually pinpointed a more accurate source for these specs.

Thanks, I've never been to an event like this, but am anxious to check out the G70 demo!

To each their own. I easily get as much enjoyment out of buying new hardware and installing it, checking out how it works as I do playing video games.

As far as 5800Us go, I may well buy another to frame someday.
