There are some details of the R300 that have been posted at the Inquirer.

According to it the R300 will cost less than the Geforce4 and will be considerably faster. The same goes for the R250 which will go up against the NV17.

I'm really not suprised, as the Geforce4 seems to be nothing more than a Geforce3 Ultra.

<< quality tested by the senior marchitects in the marchitecture department. >>

These guys crack me up, I wonder what a senior "marchitect" pulls down a year LOL.

Hopefully, we'll see Kyro3, bit boys and the new Matrox fcram equipped offering as well, all at the same time fighting for me buckaroos..could be a real interesting few months.

That's great to hear. Let's just hope ATI can provide us with some good, strong drivers. With the 8500DV just now hitting shelves, I wonder if they should have waited until summer of 2002 and used this newer chip?

Ah well, come on ATI, give me a reason to upgrade my AIW Radeon!

I find that doubtful but if it turns out to be true it will be great news for consumers. After all, the 8500 was supposed to be a Ti500 killer but it really didn't work out that way.

I wish they'd throw us a bone in terms of leaking some specs and I wish the Inquirer would learn how to use a spell checker.

From the linky above......

<< ...ATI's lower market model the RV 250 which many assumed to be an NV17 killer now has large speed advantages over Nvidia's offering.

While clock speeds are still under waraps....
>>

So which is it? they learned of a speed advantage, or they noticed the clock speeds aren't released?

OK, now please don't misunderstand me... I am cheering ATI on from the stands (yep, I cheer for NVidia too.... I don't care who makes it, I just want them to keep getting better)

R250, R300, and Geforce 4? That is too much for me to handle. Just when I thought my xpert 128 was top of the line....;)

IMHO, the Radeon 8500 was a Ti500 killer in the high end. It may not have won every benchmark, but it usually did not lose by much.

In the real world, where price for performance is measured, the Radeon 8500 blew the doors off of the Ti500.

Just trying to keep all of this in perspective.

My 2 cents.

About DX 9, anybody know what it intails and what real improvements it will offer. And it also mentioned that the R200 has DX 9 support;

<< R200 is the platform ATI is using for DirectX 9 but it's still unclear how it will be implemented. >>

, if that is true then what will be new with the R300 other then a faster card with enchansments?

Generally, when we say a killer, we mean better in every aspect. Faster (usually has to be by much) and cheaper and more stable, etc. The Geforce 3 Ti 500 wins more benchmarks than the 8500, yet I've not read anyone claiming it to be a Radeon "killer". I love how no one seems to point out zealoutry when it's on the part of ATI.

Geforce does win more benchmarks but Radeon has other things going for itself. Cheaper price, 2D, DVD, dual head. And other 3D features that geforce lacks.
