ATI price drops?

When will the price drops for ATI happen because they are releasing the 9200, 9600, and 9800 cards.

And, any estimate how much of a drop there will be? Will we see 9700 Pro's at around $200?

why drop prices of your current cards? you make more money by charging even more for the new ones and letting the old ones stay at the same price. (joking, i dont know what is in store)

you'll see 9700pro's at 200 when radeon 12000's are out

Ahh, by then the 11,000's will be at that price. Right now the 8500 card are dirt cheap.

these are the lowest prices i've seen:

radeon 9500 128 - $150.49
radeon 9500 pro - $173.50
radeon 9700 np - $217.00
radeon 9700 pro - $271.00

I did not look at the gold version or anything less than radeon 9500. these prices are current, and the 9500 np has dropped about $10 but it's the black pcb. the radeon 9500 pro has only drop about $5-7, the 9700 np has dropped about $3-8, and the radeon 9700 has drop about $10 - 25. these price fluctuations are from about 2 weeks to a month. I've been keeping up on the prices hoping the long awaited price drops will come, and they should be here in about a week.

Whoa, thanks. Thats like everything I wanted to know and more. Remember, the 9600 is meant to replace the 9500, especially the 9500 Pro because it is more expensive to manufacture. I'm guess that because of that the 9500 Pro and then the 9500 nonpro as well since otherwise it would be at the same price as the Pro. I'm curious to see how the 9700 prices will react. I get the feeling that at first, they will not change but then after about two or three months, hopefully they will lower the prices on that causing the 9700 prices to fall.

when my gf agreed to buy me a 9500pro, i said screw it, why wait for a price drop when i can have it NOW. and what...only $5-$10 price difference? BLAH...

a girlfriend and a free vid card... i'll take either... actually, no, a free vid card doesn't bitch at you... welcome home radeon 🙂

yea a video will never bitch at you....but it is a BITCH when it isn't work right! but so far, i havent had neither.=)

welcome to video-cardaholics anonymous....

first you must realize some things....

1) you can never win

2) by the time there are price drops for the video card that you want, there will be another card that you'll want instead of that, and it WILL be more expensive. you will then wait for THAT price to drop.

3) repeat until broke and lonely

amen brotha ...

After so many months, I finally saved up 'nuf snuff to buy a 9700Pro and what happens ... 9800!!!

the ulcers in my belly have either the ATi or nVIDIA logo 😛
