XT vs. GTO??

XT hands down. If you mean the GT, then the GT beats the XT. But you won't notice a difference with that high end... so that's why people are giving you sh*tty responses... no need to be defensive.

Also it'd help if you gave us an idea of budget and what you're going to use it for.

More like: X700Pro or GTO (both PCIe), or 6800Ultra or X800XT.

This card is for a dell 8400 system for my partner at our busniess. The card is oem selection from dell, the price is about $100 diff between the two about a 300 to 400 value. The price is not the major concern, getting the better card is. Dell doesnt offer much in the way of explaining the pros and cons of the two cards, just looking for anybody's advice Thanks

but seriously, why do people keep comparing the 6800gt and the x800xt?

Dunno why you posted it twice. Anyway, the GTO is only avaible OEM, is PCI-express only, and isn't a very good card for its price. I would suggest getting an X800XT or a 6800Ultra (both are very viable cards). They are top-of-the-line right now and cost about 500 bucks each.

There are also "more powerful" versions of those cards, the X800XT Platinum Edition and the 6800Ultra Extreme, both costing about 700 bucks and very hard to find, not worth it in my opinion.

So whether you get the nVidia card or the ATI card is up to you, they are both very close.

Other cheaper but still good cards include:

6800GT or X800Pro for 400 bucks
6600GT or 9800Pro for 200 - 300
6600GT (PCIe) or X700Pro (PCIe) for about 200

Wanna save up a little for very similar performance? Get a 6800gt.
Love digital vibrance?( nvidia option that i love) then get nvidia.
Wanna have amazing performance in 1600x1200? Go ATI.
Resolution of 1280 or less enough for you? Then toss a coin.
Love Half-Life 2? Go ati for higher resolution (1600x1200)
Amazed by doom 3? Get Nvidia.

I personnaly choose nvidia for: Digital Vibrance.Better performance than a x800 pro,And i got less issues with games not properly working with nvidia than ATI.Driver support( beta) always come out quicker too on NVIDIA.My star wars KOTOR bug got fixed with ati ONE YEAR AFTER THE GAME GOT RELEASE LOL!!!!(just fixed in 4.12 driver...woaaa )

the gto is inbetween the nu amd gt look in the forums for gto people have been unlocking pipes and overclocking them with good success. They also seem to hold thier value on ebay. I'm not saying its better then a x800xt its just that its not THAT bad of a card.
