Good article showing the differences of ATI, Omega, DNA, NGO and DH0point driver sets. The only problem is, since DH0points are no longer being worked on, there not all based on the same driver set, so it's a little inaccurate. It does however validate why so many ATI users are still running the 6.9 Driver set.

EDIT... another problem w/ the article would be that the Author used an X800XT, which could explain the better performance with older drivers

kinda funny how some of those 'optimized' drivers perform worse than the official ati ones

NGO drivers are tweaked for better image quality thats why they get low frame rate but they best image quality in the game they tweak it for. Omega 3.8.330 is the most reliable ATI 3rd party driver and very good for old games.

So every driver offers you something , i use omega drivers when a old game has some glitch or graphic related issue. Omega just works right.

I personally find these third party repackaged drivers a total waste of time.

I agree. I've never had any problems ever with both DAAMIT and nVidia drivers so why bother with 3rd party garbage?:)

Agreed, I am just glad that I finally got CCC 7.2 to work.

How'd you get CCC 7.2 to work? I ditched the 7.2 driver set and rolled back to the 6.9s. Not only was CCC a mess, i noticed flashes in BF2 w/ the 7.2 drivers that i don't get w/ the 6.9s. Better framerates w/ the 6.9s as well.

IMHO...I don't think the Omega drivers are a waste of time, even ATI recommends them if you're going to use 3rd party drivers.
