As i see many of people are confused due to ATI's latest launch for the X850 and 110nm X800 series of vgas, so here is a revised list for reference regarding the video cards options and how they stand against each other HERE.
this is a breif chart that shows the options for each price point, the compititors and the best card for that segment.
although many would definitly comment on ATI's hardware availability, i guess that there were some problems in producing the 130nm X800s (guess yield related) so my guess is that the X850 series is here to replace with better yielding not to refresh, so X850s availability will be much better than the 130nm X800s, (remember the AMD t-bred rev.A vs rev.B), as for the 110nm X800s they simply rock! esp. the X800XL which is the best card for the buck (when released for mass production).
But we all know that Nvidia's Sales & Marketing staff are several light years ahead of Ati's so i guess next year will see NV regaining much of their lost grounds as NV fans will regain trust back in their company. So unless Ati does have a ground-breaker with their R520 and alot of winners in the magic $300-$200 segment with reasonable AVAILABILITY, coupled with their own SLI they will certainly lose, as we already know that many users have switched (back?) to NV coz the ATI's failure in resolving their availability problems.
