ATI Naming Game

So are they going to continue the Radeon xxxx name? It seems kinda awkward having 5 digits after (if they do) release a Radeon 9900. Sorry if this has been posted already, but does anyone know what their plans are about the future cards' names?

dunno yet, they may change the prduct numbering and just use radeon still.. oe maybe radeon2 and then product number... wont matter for a little while since M$ has said they are slowing down how fast they are making new directx versions

I hope not, with the 9000, 9100, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700 and 9800 you can but hope their is no more. The one that I dont get is the 9200, they rename the 8500 to 9100 because 'it outperforms the 9000' and then they release a agp8x 9000 and call it a 9200 - just plain wierd.

Well, the Radeon name started with the R100 core, and since the R400 will be in the next card, I'm guessing there might still be a Radeon name, although maybe they'll go down an nVidia route and add something (nVidia put GF FX rather thna just GF), so this would seem like a possible solution, since 5 digits would be excessive.

they could just frop a letter... like the radeon 900, 910,...970 etc cept that might be confusing... or they could forgo the radeon name and come out with something new
