Just picked up a 8500LE from newegg refurb (so there's a chance this card is horked, but let me continue).

Fresh install of XP Pro, Shuttle AV18E, Celeron 1.1A, 256MB ram, Enermax 350W PS.

Everything went fairly well. The Catalyst 2.4 drivers seemed happy. I was able to loop 3dmark 2k1 for about 3 hours last night. Even tried overclocking it a bit. Found the card's limits, returned to defaults.

Everything is at default settings, CPU, RAM, video card.

This morning, I decided to hook the PC up to my main monitor to see if the 2D quality was in fact better than my Gainward GF3 in my main PC.Prior to doing so, I noticed that the old monitor (a 17" nokia) was listed as "default monitor".

I shut down, plugged into my Sony G520, and the thing locks up after the XP splash screen (right about when the desktop should pop up).I see a thin blue bar at the top of the screen. I can boot to safe mode OK, but that doesn't let me change anything to do with the monitor.

I go back to the old monitor and ... boom, same thing??!?!?! What the heck happened? This card seemed pretty nice until now.

Anyone see this before? Anyone know how to change monitor driver in safe mode in XP ?

Thx for any Help.

I normally change the monitor back to the other working monitor and then change the res and such while using the other.
sounds like it's just a frequency or resolution problem.

That's the problem. The previously working monitor is behaving the same way.
