ATI MultiMedia Center and converting recorded shows

Fenixgoon

Lifer
I have an episode of Law and Order recorded using TV on Demand (didnt know there was a new one tonight, otherwise i would have scheduled the recording) but ATI MMC will only let me export the file to 720x480 resolution when the recording is in 1080i. Anyone know how to get around this?

Thanks

You're using an HDTV tuner (ATSC not NTSC), right? Are you sure you can't define a new compression profile with a higher resolution?

yeah, HDTV wonder.

When using the "Export" feature in the Library, I can only select up to 720x480

an avi or mpg file

the recording is stored as a .vrc because i didn't have a scheduled recording, i just saved the temp file that's used for time shifting (TV on Demand as ATI calls it)

Video resolution isn't that important. You can get some really nice looking videos at low resolutions, but higher bit rates.

Other than that, I don't know how to get higher. Try www.rage3d.com and their message boards.

i checked out rage3d and one person made a suggestion that worked.

ATI MMC has a preset "HD-mpeg2" conversion setting. the resolution may say 352x480, but the quality is there any the files are huge (1hr = ~6gigs). it kept the aspect ratio and the picture quality, so i'm happy😀😀
