ATI Multimedia Center 7.7 video record problem

I've started using MMC 7.7 and the Guide plus software to record some TV shows but I noticed when I record them the voices are way high-pitched like the speed of the sound has been turned up. Since it's in sync with the video I assume it's speeding up my videos for some reason too. This only happens if I play the videos in Windows Media Player. If I use the ATI player they look and sound fine. I'm recording everything in MPEG2 format at 720x480 and 16-bit audio at 44Khz. Any ideas?

Also Has anyone upgraded their ATI multimedia center 7.7 to 8.6? I went to upgrade last night and saw I had to purchase the CD to get it for my AIW 7500. Is it worth it to upgrade? I'm mostly looking for comments/info on the TV and recording parts of it.

The ONLY reason for buying the upgrade CD from ATI, is for the convenience of having the DVD player incorporated into MMC. If you already have PowerDVD or WinDVD (one of which is usually included with new DVD drives), then you you don't really need the "paid for" MMC update. The rest of the MMC, which tunes the TV and records programming, is freely downloadable from ATI.
[The reason why ATI won't allow downloading the DVD update involves a licensing fee that they must, under contract, pay to Cyberlink, the author of PowerDVD].
Just follow the ATI website instructions, as there are several steps to updating the latest software versions. Such as DX9b, latest ATI Catalyst drivers, rebooting, etc.
