ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 64MB AGP 8x

Geeks.com is selling the Alastar ATI-9600-64TV, which is a relabeled Jetway 96MX-AT-064C based on Mobility Radeon 9600 with 64MB DDR.

ATi Radeon 9600 64MB 8x AGP Video Card w/TV - $26.00 plus shipping

Pretty good deal for this card. It features 128-bit memory interface (standard 325/400 clocks) like the regular Radeon 9600. ATI release drivers will not install without modification, due to the Mobility hardware ID. Use the Omega ATI drivers or modify the .INF from the Catalyst driver package.

This card is fairly low profile but not truly half-height. It won't fit in a Dell OptiPlex G240 SFF chassis, which is what I bought it for as an upgrade the factory Rage128 PRO AGP.

They must be selling a bunch of them. Its been $26.00 for over a week. Geeks has special sales all the time, just wait a day or two. Still a good deal if you combine the purchase with other things to spread out the cost of shipping.

remember to type in the chubby wallet code for 10% off prices if they aren't currently on special 🙂

S-vid out, not TV tuner... right?

Dell Opti 260 sff chassis the same? (only the AGP port in desktop chassis is a low-pro slot - won't it fit by mod'g the port plate?)

price back up again

I don't know about the G260 SFF. The G240 SFF chassis requires half-height cards and this card is too tall. The I/O bracket needed to be changed to half-height (not included), too, but that wasn't the problem.

sorry as this is somewhat OT, but is the SFF case about the size of a namebrand video card box or is it about the size of a narrow mini-tower that sits horizontally flat on the desk? The GX260 has a low-profile AGP skt limited by the height of the case design and two reg size slots off a riser card. I was looking for something that would fit that my "desktop" case.

The SFF is like a thin client. It has no regular 5.25" external bays. Instead, it uses a slim optical drive (e.g. for notebooks).

IIRC, the mini-tower OptiPlex GX chassis will accept regular expansion cards.
