Damn, go ATi, go ATi!! :)

ATI Announces inclusion of their Integrated Chipset

<< The fastest integrated chipset with hardware transform and lighting technology on the market, the S1-370TL features 12.5 million polygons/second through-put, four pixels per clock and more than 330 million textured pixels per second rendering, to deliver a fast and realistic game and computer graphics performance and a totally immersive end user computer experience. ATI's integrated component is also unique to feature a scalable memory architecture, with a choice of 64 or 128-bit interface, which allows motherboard manufacturers to address different price point/performance market segments with the same basic motherboard design.

To guarantee the highest screen quality in the value PC market, the S1- 370TL includes 8X virtual AGP 2D and 3D graphics, supporting 32-bit full color at up to 1600x1200 resolutions and incorporates hardware assisted motion compensation for smooth video playback on the PC.

Thats soo cool. All I wish is 2 things. First, that the motherboards are resonibly priced, and 2, laptop support. :)

It's a nice idea for the budget end, I guess, but there is no mention of a seperate AGP slot for the chipset. nVidia's northbridge will allow for one.

If anything, the 3D chipset market is still in the warmup phase, and I would not wish to be stuck with a motherboard that did not allow me to upgrade my video at all (unless I was on a tight budget or only wanted a business/internet box).

Looks like it will be quite a bit slower than the Radeon.
Still, better than an i810 :)

I agree that a regular gamer should not invest in something like this; But anyone who has ever had some mother come up to you and ask you to build a computer for her...for less than 1000 bucks (670usd)...that has internet, windows 98 and it has to be able to play games. AHH!!! I try to make at least 150 bucks off a system or its not worth it, and latley, I have been saying no to these kinds of questions, but if there was a good STABLE high qualitly motherbaord with decenet video it would be a great option.

Johnny, I do agree with you in principle - I sell a lot of computers to mothers on a budget.

I would still like to see an AGP slot though. Hopefully ATI will include one. This will also give nVidia a little competition too which is good.

At the end of the day though, I guess it beats all hell out of selling the mother a horrid computer based around a SiS chipset, AGP slot or not... :)

Actually guys, this isn't Radeon based AFIK. I'm 99.999999% sure it's an chipset from ArtX, which ATI purchased earlier this year. It does have T&L (a first for an integrated chipset) and will probably be faster than any other integrated chipset at the moment, but it won't be a screamer. Hopefully we'll be able to get a hold of one of these soon so we can let you guys know the real deal.
