I read an interview this week wherein they said they hoped to launch the R520 in June as well?

This is part of the "good" I do here- word from ATI themselves that the launch dates outlined in the AT article will not be met is very newsworthy!

One post in Beyond3d, (one of our favorite forums of course) and this constitutes news? Getting pretty desperate I would say. Unlike you I may actually like this card once it is released.

I must have missed that interview but what I want to see is the Wait two months from March comment? Or was that not from ATI just like the 32 pipes was not from nVidia? Exactly, and I'm just going to leave it at that.

Well based on Anandtech's roadmap R520 isn't due until sometime October so I don't know why anyone here is surprised. The speculation is becoming very rampant on all forums which can only be a good thing since it means a lot of people are interested in what ATi has to offer - otherwise they'd have brushed it off as unimportant and concentrated instead on the 7800 GTX only.

thats maybe becuz the benchmarks of the g70 are nice but not very nice, and the, should i repeat that...nah everybody knows what they suffer from, ATI fans still call it bad drivers..;) 10% improved performance is not very "next gen" imo. And the 7800GT is rarely better than a x800XT pe. next gen....stupid words...extreme pipes....power of three...two more months and dozen of threads like this to come. :-o zz ZZ Z Z

ATI has been saying this chip is done since last November!

ATI has completed its design for the upcoming R5xx series of graphics chips.

So claims a Goldman Sachs report cited by Beyond3D, issued after last week's analyst meeting at which ATI apparently confirmed the chip family will be released in H1 2005.

So, ATI has been telling us since LAST NOVEMBER that the card is done and will ship by June.

LOL- it's 8/27/05, and now they're talling us it will be "launched" half a year late?

The only people this isn't news to are working at ATI and praying we all have short memories in regard to their promises from LAST YEAR. :roll:

ATi's delays are certainly a concern but they're still in far better shape than nVidia was during the NV3x days. The 5800U came out months later than the 9700 Pro and it was inferior and nVidia's refresh NV3x was still inferior to the 9800 Pro/XT.

I god damn hope the R520 offers more performance than the 7800GTX. I'm sure Nvidia could have squeezed bit more out of the 7800 if they were going to be releasing this late in the game too...

I think the stockholders did too Blingbling, and that's why there are now six suits filed against ATI and the number is likely to go higher?
