ATi just shipped me an R360 9800 Pro

I just got an email from them saying that they already shipped my R360 9800 pro at 3:30pm today via fed-ex overnight. I should get it by 3pm tomorrow. I RMA'ed an R350 9800 pro and now I'm getting an R360. I love ATi🙂

dunno how you see it as "woohoo" thing... I'm pretty sure all the 9800 pro left are R360 cores by now, unless someone has BOAT loads of old stock....

Chances are you have the 128mb because ATI hasn't been shipping the 256mb for a long time. The Flash will definitely be worth it.

Yeah, if he had a 256mb card, then he could activate the thermal sensor. Don't waste your time flashing it. Just overclock it to XT speeds. Get AtiTool.

Agreed

and seconded

o/c'ing yields about the same results as flashing the 128MB version . . . unlike the 256MB version.

The r360 core is supposed to o/c better than the r350 . . . better heat dissapation, that's all 😉
(and sometimes the r350 o/c's just as well)

is "blasphame" pronnounced like it is spelled?

It is when I say it!😀

so what was the blasphamy[sic.] you were referring to? . . . certainly not the fact that flashing a 9800p 128MB to xt has no practical advantage over simple o/c'ing?

yes flashing the 128mb version will work

and they will perform similarly, but not the same

the xt bios will perform faster, i've ran benchies

not much faster, but faster is faster

Not me 🙁 I sent an R350 in and got an R350 back, which only lasted about three days before it went bad. Now they are sending me another R350.

Both were re-furbs out of Texas. I hope this next one is good.

Radeon 9800 Pro To Radeon 9800XT Mod Guide Rev. 6.0!
page 18 i think.

it will not be a practical difference . . . yes, 3D Mark will measure a slight perf inc. . . . . but you won't get any more FPS in your favourite game (over simply o/c'ing it to xt speeds). 😉

(well, it sure won't hurt either if your cooling is adequate and the memory on the 9800p can reach xt speed.) 🙂

BTW, my 9800xt started life as a Radeon 9800P-256/256MB . . . happily running as a "true" xt with overdrive and all (needed an Arctic-Cooler to keep from artifacting).
