Hey thanks for letting us know, the other topic right above this one didn't already mention it with a 2 page thread. They've got this new invention called glasses now too.

I too feel sad. I mean, I don't agree with the nVidiots who feel that ATI threw in the towel. Their shareholders simply were willing to sell out in order to make more money.

But face it, ATI as a brand along with its logo exists no more. It would have been nicer if AMD treated it more like a merger instead of a takeover. They could have changed the AMD font to the ATI font and made the "A" the same red as the ATI red. something along those lines.

Sad day for Canadians too.

Your topic title is inaccurate. ATI is still very much alive, the ATI name and Radeon branding will continue to be used by AMD and improved as AMD and ATI share technology.

The ATI logo and Radeon branding is going nowhere, only the website is changing. The company name, logo, branding, and product range will be staying practically the same.

I submitted an ATI rebate in July and still have not got it. it does not even show on the web site. I have re-submitted it following their request. Still, nothing. I wonder if this means they are not going to honor the ATI rebates!

Yeah they will plaster ATI wherever they think it will help sell a product. But the company formerly known as AT, as you knew it.. is gone.

Eventually AMD will probably want to strengthen the AMD name as much as possible, as its tough for AMD to raise up both the ATI and AMD name to INTELs level.

Having 1 brand name as known as Intel is hard enough work.
In fact, it might even be impossible for AMD to do that anytime soon, even if they eliminated the ATI nameplate completely!
Intel is one of the best recognized corporate names in the WORLD. In fact it might even be number 1, I'm not certain.. but its up there.

AMD is going after Intel, completing AMDs goals... not concerned with fulfilling previous ATI fanboy fantasys about high end video cards (which ATI was losing money on to stay in the market, and pulling the cash from other divisions to prop up their failing business).

AMD is a successful business NOT being bought out and taken over, pwned style.. they arent interested in continuing ATIs failed business model.. but rather advancing themselves.

Eventually though, for product recognition as a unified platform.. the chipsets ect will likely all say AMD as it makes AMD look like a secure, capable company as Intel appears to the business world (being able to produce the entire platform that is).

That's funny because R600 will still have a red and white ATI sticker on it and be called a "Radeon," so yes it is indeed very much the same company I know as ATI but a subdivision of AMD.

I know some of you are wishing ATI is dead, but wishful thinking will only set you up for disappointment.

Wow thats just so....insightful. So Crusader, since you obviously know everything about AMD's innerworkings, where did you get your PhD in business from again? Was it fullofshit university? I hear a lot of nV fanboys graduate from there with their prestigious degrees in bullshitology.

Sad day for Canadians too.

I was proud of it.

Once again, U.S.A market has to put its sharp teeth in Canada to seek new blood, and Canada won't be known anymore for engineering great GPU's. I wonder why the U.S don't just buy us entirely. Wasn't it that in the eyes of many U.S citizens we Canadians were often seen as farmers all across the country without any cities or government ? They do seem to like our cattle though.

It's also a good thing that nationalism is a vast minority of the population here, or I can tell you AMD wouldn't sell their CPU's as well as they'd expect. They don't even care about their logos and the color, not even the freakin' color ! Talk about lack of compassion, or shall I say talk about being ungrateful (I'm talking about AMD here, not the U.S citizens).

I for one will continue buying ATi cards against my heart, since I know the money won't strictly go to the "ATi division" anymore, but will flow in the wallets of those guys at AMD responsible for this mess. I'm speaking out of rage right now, I might calm down once R600 is released, which could well be the last true ATi-branded and ATi-made GPU. What money can do is beyond me and always will be.

Zenoth, just about all the good ATi cards lately were designed in the USA anyhow. Just face it man, USA is where the best GPUs are made and always has been.

Leave it to 5150 to only attack people, instead of statements or anything besides people. You are a winner.
You should understand you are a loser to have to attack people constantly instead of whats being said. But if you have nothing to say at all, and simply are opposed to what other people are saying.. I guess thats all you have to offer.
Good luck in life, kid.
