Okay right now i'm running windows xp. I have an All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700 and two Sony G410 monitors. Now i need to purchase a PCI video card. I'm thinking of picking up a Radeon 7000 PCI. If i'm just using the 7000 as a secondary monitor, are there any advantages to purchasing a higher end PCI video card? With hydravision, I should be able to drag windows from one monitor to the other right? Also, i am currently using a Matrox Dual Head graphics card at work (don't recall the name at the moment) and i think its cool that you can have the taskbar stretch across the two screens. Can i do that with an AIW 9700/ PCI 7000 setup w/ hydravision and Ultramon? Thnx for any help you can give me.

I would recommend the Matrox G200/Mil as a 2nd card with 16MB. Works great and no conflict of drivers. I don't use Hydro but Ultramon works with no problems.

Hmmm. I may need to install Hydrovision and see what that's about.

To answer your question, with a dual monitor setup you should have no problem dragging windows from one monitor to the other. However, You can't have a video play in the middle of the two (I.E. if you have WMP playing your favorite music video, you can't split it up between both monitors and it play perfectly). This is my experience with using my dual-head video cards. I remember see that Matrox's Prehilia can play games on up to three monitors, so maybe that card is different? And it may be different using AGP & PCI. I just wanted to give you my experience with it :).

Edit: Wow. I wish I knew about Hydravision before! I just got it and am testing it out. Disregard my post! :)

So can you split the video in WMP9 on the two screen with Hydravision? What card(s) are you using?

the 9700 can't support two monitors by itself? my lowly 9000 pro handles two by itsself. just had to use the dvi to vga converter for the 2nd monitor.
