This is a problem I had and have solved, I just wanted to add my solution here because it was rather difficult to track this down:
After installing everything the card was not being detected by the software, some kind of error about the drivers.
What fixed it is making an addition to your system environment variables.
Just add ";%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers" without quotes to Path.
how to -> Under system properties go to advanced -> environment variables -> click Path, edit, and add that. Reboot and your card should work along with the remote.
This is on windows xp pro SP2.
