I currently have an ATI X1950 Pro. I am looking to upgrade to either the ATI HD 4850 or the 4870. My PSU is an Antec NeoHE 500. It handles my current setup without any issues. Can it handle the 4850? What about the 4870?

For what it's worth, I mostly do moderate gaming. The most graphically intense one at the moment is Half Life 2. Other than that, and some less intense games, I do quite a bit of video editing, and watch an occasional DVD.

A solid 500 watt PSU should be able to handle it. For your use, you might as well get the 4850 as you're not doing anything that's really graphic intensive.

I'm running a HD4850 right now on a 500W Antec NeoPower with no problems at all. I used to have a X1950 Pro too and I can tell you the performance difference is A LOT. I would definitely upgrade to the HD4850 and maybe even the HD4870 if you have the money.

Do you see the difference just in games? Or in other applications?

I'm also using an HD4850 and from what i've heard it outperforms the 9800GTX.. It's a nice upgrade from my 8800GTX and i'm able to run Crysis on high setting at 1920x1200 with no sweat..
