ATI HD 3850

Hey people. There are versions of 8600gts with 256 and 512mb. You told me that it isn't worth the version with 512mb, as it has lower clocks and higher memories latencys, so the 256mb version is better. But there are versions of HD 3850 with 512mb too. Do they have the same destiny as the 8600gts ? Are they worst than the 256mb versions ?

In this case the 512MB 3850 would get the nod. The HD 3850 is powerful enough to make use of the extra memory especially with AA and all the goodies turned on.

Ok, so the 512mb is better. i'm using the resolution 1280x1024.
But whats better ATI HD 3850 512mb or GeForce 8800gt 256mb ?

Even at 1280x1024, you'd still want a 512MB card if you're playing recent games. A lot of titles these days have pretty large textures.

I haven't seen any reviews of the 256MB 8800GT yet. Has anyone seen one?

Also, AoC suggests 512MB for recommended play (if you are into MMORPG). If you are the kind of person who upgrades often, then the 256MB will probably get you by; I also play at 1280x1024, and my 256MB card gives me "good enough" frame rates in 2006 games with a 2006 VGA processor ... but if you want a card that will last over a year, go for the 512MB, as most new games will have larger textures.
