click HERE ATI 1GB HD 2900 XT

Great price on 570 AM2 board too $34.95

Not a special card for OEM this time, retail box 2900

Where are the reviews of the 1GB? - remember all the talk with 512M cards, never need them, no benefit - be interesting to hear how much we don't need 1GB video cards...

you mean $590.... for oem whitebox card

still good to AMD finally getting something out of the door...

$590 is too much. They are $575 Canadian in the link I provided, though they are still on order.

link above is $574.95 in the US - guessing we will see places mark this card way up if stock comes out short, like the 512m and past cards even from Nvidia...

woops,, 590.00$ sorry.</end quote></div>

Yea, but don't you pay shipping on that 574.99?
And there out of stock.

I think it is $10.00 shipping for most. I usually just do a pick-up.

That's strange the two places are showing the different core clocks.

Got more details... (called them) this card is special order and is in stock actually, when ordered diamondmm is filling these orders directly for now until there is more of these in the channel - another words allow some extra time before the order ships.

The clock ratings for this link (above) is correct and is based on the retail ATI HD 2900 XT 1GB card...

The status has been dated in the link above

For $580 they can shove it..

Unless I see reliable benchmarks showing it spanking the 8800GTX, I'll sticking with the 512mb 2900XT.

Does someone have a link to an overclocked 2900XT 512mb review? Seems like performance should be exactly the same as an overclocked 512mb card. Unless they bench games where the 512mb frame buffer is not enough.

There's nothing out yet for real benches unfortunately.

You guys have no idea how tempted i have been to ordering one & being the first to put out some decent benches compared to my 8800 GTX, since i'm not happy with the 8800.

Canada has had them for a while now, though only in stock at extremepc.
Other places getting them in soon though.

http://www.memoryexpress.com/i...ayProductID=10465&SID=
http://www.ncix.com/products/i...PE&manufacture=Diamond
http://www.extreme-pc.ca/showp...&menu2id=99&menu3id=39

It's clocked higher, & has much faster clocked GDDR4 (& more).

Sooo tempting, but i'm kinda wanting to wait till someone else reviews one...

IMO, faster clocked GDDR4 means nothing since this card is no where near bandwidth limited.

The only possible gains are from the 1GB framebuffer and the faster core. After reading some benches of overclocked 512mb cards, I still dont believe this thing is worth $570.

How about in dx 10? new drivers and some games that may start to push the bandwidth some or maybe like when 512m came (video cards) start to use the extra memory in ways to give this card the edge?

I know with my 8800gtx and playing around with lost planet dx10 - was not very good at all, with everything cranked up (graphics) - was very laggy and slow... interesting to see the 1gb 2900 performance then...

should be reviews, not like there is a non-disclose any more.... wonder why the lag?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought part of the problem with the 2900XT at high resolutions w/ AA and AF was exactly because its memory was lacking in comparison to the 640/768 on the GTS/GTX

Why dont you download a Vram utilization monitor and try Lost Planet. Tell me if you are using more than 768mb. I highly doubt it. Lost Planet seems like a badly coded console port with DX10 functionality slapped onto it as an after thought. I believe this is the reason for poor performance.

I have seen no such conclusions or benchmarks by reputable sites to back this up. 2900XT is usually behind 8800GTX and right around GTS 640mb performance all across the board. The huge performance hits we are seeing come when the AA is turned up, not when the resolution gets turned up. I think this points to poor AA algorithms more than a defficient frame buffer size.

That seems correct so is that more of a driver or hardware issue then?

good idea... thanks...

...however, is it possible that with the 8800gtx it would not use more than the 768mb, however with ATI card/driver and the fact it has 1gb, possible it would use more?

VRAM usage should be the same regardless of what card you are using as long as the in-game settings and driver settings are all the same.
