hey im sure most people know but just incase you dont ATI has just released info on there Dual Card setup to compete with Nvidias SLI basically in order to run the setup you will have to buy a custom motherboard branded with ATI's chipset in order to run the setup...some of the bonuses are the cards are not connected through jumpers or a bridge on the inside of the case but instead a 3-Head DVI connector on the outside of the case...another nice feature is you dont have to have 2 of the exact same cards..you can mix in math cards on the boards...but the downside is the slower card will bring the speed of the higher card down to the speed of thr slower speed

well just a little bit of info..for full article pickup your August 2005 issue of Maximum PC and give it a read Pg 14!

Re-read what he said.

The long lead time inherent to such print magazines renders them chronically outdated. Thus their "August" issue should really be called the "June Retrospective". 😛

Newsflash: I hear nVidia is going to have some new card, codenamed "G70", that will be as fast as 6800SLI in many situations!

😉
(sorry, couldn't resist!)

I'd prefer a board-to-board bridge as opposed to an external cable. It seems more elegant that way.

I think most of us have lives + we're not idiots here.

If you spent hours you should know everything thats going on with R520 and what not.

If you read magazines for hardware news you might as well read your US History textbook for "news"

i dont RELY on the Magazines..it doesnt make me feel superior to someone to know something before they do...id rather just share the information with the people that dont know it...or the people that appreciate it...so if you know thanthis thread was not inttended for you!

The thing they are trying to tell you is that 99.98% of all anandtechers have known about crossfire for a long time, and how it works.

LOL...this is old news duggy!! Hope you know about ATI's next gen card called R520! 😉

Wow... pretty rude. Either way, it's a safe bet that anything you read in a monthly magazine is at least 1 month old, possibly more.

While I agree that some of the reactions on the post were a bit overly hostile. I also agree with their sentiment that 1: he should have done a search. 2: just because we are up to date on hardware news doesn't mean we are said little 40 year old men who live in our parents basements (not exactly what he said, but I believe was the intent) 3: Just because you can't keep up with the news in an hour a day, doesn't mean the rest of us can't.
