Hi, As the world cup nears I have tried to recieve BBC HD from a satellite dish and view it though my PC.
This is all working fine but the playback of the live stream is running too slowly. I am currently using the PowerDVD 7 H.264 codec to decode the live stream which as far as I know does not have any support for the New ATI X1 graphics cards and therefore is only using the CPU.
What I would like to do is to try and view the stream without as much stuttering. I am thinking about upgrading to a new graphics card eg an X1800.
Does anyone know if the Avivo software supports MBAFF H.264 decoding and whether it will ne noticably faster than the PowerDVD7 codec I am currently using?
Or can anyone recommend any other method of decoding an MBAFF H.264 stream more effectively? If I am sticking with the software only codec which is the best CPU for this task? Will I be better off upgrading to a Intel D or an AMD X2?
Thanks and I look forward to reading your thoughts
