A REPORT FROM John Peddie's Market Watch report said that ATI increased its graphics share in Q4 of 2002 by 18% compared to the same quarter in 2001, ahead of Intel and Nvidia.
Nvidia, however, remained the largest supplier of graphics to the PC market but with a reduced share of the market.
Intel managed to increase its graphics shipment by 12% while Nvidia grew its share by 13% in that quarter.
The whole segment saw much bigger growth in all than the PC division. The report said graphics shipments outsold CPU shipments by 30% in Q4, showing people were buying discrete rather than using integrated chipsets.
Only five out of the nine suppliers managed to show growth ? those are the three players mentioned above as well as SIS and VIa.
The market share figures, in all, are as follows:
Nvidia 32% - Intel 28% - ATI 19% - Via 11% - SIS 8% - Matrox 1% - Trident 1% - Silicon Motion less than 1% and 3DLabs less than 1%.
