<< If the article is true then it's great news because it means that ATi is not sinking like common belief said and it also means that they'll be in a great position to aggressively compete with nVidia which results in a win-win situation for everyone, regardless of what side of the fence you're on. >>

Amen! Competition breeds quickly advancing technoligies and competitive pricing.

<< ATI definitely has the mobile market, the GF2GO couldn't penetrate too well, since there were driver problems, and its power consumition is still higher then ATI chips (which is by far ATIs strength). >>

Power consumption is important, but I think nVidia's driver issues are worse. ie. Having funky drivers that make it hard to use your external VGA connection is more irritating than losing 15 minutes of battery life (at least for me).

As for the OEM business market, I'm still surprised by the TNT2 penetration since I know first hand the the 2D quality ain't so good with some of them. Rage 128's are consistently pretty good. Then again most of the target customers I know never run anything above 1024x768, and are flabbergasted when I point out that the flickering they've been getting at 60 Hz for the past 2 years isn't because of the fluorescent lights. :p

spankyOO7: You really need to get a grip. You're so wound up that you're seeing things. I've spanked the fanboys in the past, but in THIS THREAD I've said nothing other than the article was bullsh*t and that it was a useless springboard for discussing market share.

This discussion HAS been trying to sort out market share and whether OEM or retail is the path to lasting success, but YOU have been so preoccupied with the stick up your a** that you contribute nothing but, "Begone Nvidiot!!!", flamage. Get over yourself.

DefRef: being that you have claimed to spank fanboys only tells me that you are a "flamer". before your post... was there any mention of "fanboys" or "haters"?

i believe u ARE the "flamer" here. look at your first post. all i see there is arrogance and attempts to insult people who like ati by called them "fanboys" and "nvidia haters". i know you're a flamer and all, but please do not entertain yourself with thoughts of objects up my a**.

Leon has already proven that overall market share numbers for nVidia is 66% whereas ATi is at 25%, all in the desktop market (ATi owns 42% of the 7% that the retail market accounts for in the desktop market, get it?).

This thead needs a lock.

Good, maybe the stupid nvidiots will shut the hell up about their "superior" cards then.

ATI stock price has gone up 20% in the last week. approx. $4.00 (Can).
This is fact look it up. ( It has to hit $23.66 for me to break even on yet
another of my wonderful investments.
No statistical semantics here.
Strange thing is I own ATI stock and a GTS.

I agree with your comments 100%, there should be more competition to help drive down prices! :)

The way i see it is that ATI is looking pretty worried at the moment, their prices are good for consumers but bad for business.
