Now that its starting to get cooler outside, I'm going to be turning back on my folders.

To replace my old GTX460, I bought a 2GB 6950 for playing BF3. Have the past issues been worked out with folding on ATI cards and is it worth folding on it?

Thanks!

Not quite sure which issues you're referring to...

But really, development for AMD F@H has been stagnant for quite a while now, and the 6xxx series cards are the most "difficult" to get going. The stable GPU2 program doesn't support 6xxx cards even with the proper flags last I checked, and the only way to get it going is by using a beta client that has a much crappier interface compared to the standard GUI. I probably ran a couple workunits on my card before I gave up.

Well that's unfortunate; thanks for the info guys. Guess I'll stick to just folding with the i7.

Your GPU is ideal for Milkyway@home. Many GPUs can't crunch Milkyway because they don't have Double Precision but your 6950 does

my whole folding farm is i7 cpu and nvidia gpu based. is f@h pretty much the only DC that hasn't tweaked their AMD drivers?

FAH has been dragging its feet in supporting ATI for years. Even in 2011 we had to fold with 2007 compiled files.

Its too bad b/c they seemed to be really big supporters right out of the game. I remember folding a lot with my old 4850.

In PrimeGrid there is a project or two, that they have established for the AMD cards, thought I'm not sure what's in the pipeline for more projects. Right now there's a beta version of for the Nvidia GPU in PPS LLR's, but again I'm not sure what's in the future for AMD GPUs.

It's been a while since I looked at FAH's OpenCL development, but apparently Core16 (for beta Client 7) is out, and it doubles the previous efficiency. However, it still loads a full CPU core along with GPU, and Nvidia version is still better. But at least ATI doesn't suck as much as it used to, and hopefully it will get better in the future.

https://fah-web.stanford.edu/projects/FAHClient/ this is for v7 beta client

I am running that right now, and the version 7 client is much easier to install/manage.
