I have an ATI Fire GL4 graphics card which is designed for workstation graphics, like CAD, etc.

Does anyone know if it would support gaming (any firsthand experiences, etc)?

Thanks.

if it supports opengl & dirext x it will support gaming. usually professional cards perform worse at gaming because of the drivers.

thats an older card i think too.

Well ATI says it supports this:

API and Operating system support
* OpenGL® 2.0 + extensions
* OpenGL Shading Language
* Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0
* DX9 HLSL
* Windows® XP/Windows XP64/Windows 2000
* Linux® 32/Linux 64

But that doesn't neccesarily warrant decent performance. Hopefully someone has a firsthand experience with the card. I'm basically looking to play Battlefield 2 on this, which I know is probably unlikely, but it does have a dual core 2.0ghz xeon powering it so maybe at 640x480 I can play it on the 24inch CRT it comes with :).

It will support older games but its not going to perform very well.. if you have it sitting in a box its worth a try but don't expect much.

Edit: Considering what those things used to sell for, you might be better off trying to sell it but I'm not sure what its worth these days.
