ATI: DVI frequency options

I just picked up the Dell 2405FPW and I have to say this is an amazing display. I think it has flushed any thoughts of CRT out of my mind. Anyway, I had a question about 2 features under the 'Options' tab in the ATI control panel:

Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays

Alternate DVI operational mode

Both of these options are enabled by default, but the 'What's this' states that they are only needed if I am experiencing display corruption or no picture. Of course that's not the case so I decided to uncheck both of them. Is Ati suggesting that both options should be left alone if they are on by default? I'm guessing no, but I was curious if anyone else had an experience where one/both options were actually needed? Any info would help. Thanks.

Res and refresh rate = 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz

I believe the first option you mentioned enables something called "Reduced Blanking Interval", which allows a greater resolution signal to be sent with the same available bandwidth...as far as I know, it is necessary for 1920x1200 over Single Link DVI. I'm not sure what exactly the second one does.

When I enable the first option I get a warning that says, "Selecting this option will run the DVI interface of your ATI product at unsupported speeds. You may experience display corruption, or no image. Do you want to continue?"

Damn them and their conflicting information! ;)
