ATI DVD player problems

I just re-installed Win98 SE on my 900mhz Duron box. Flashed the bios on my A7V and dloaded the latest drivers for everything. I dloaded the most current beta drivers for my Radeon 32mb DDR. I also dloaded ATI'd DVD Player 4.1 and installed that. I seem to be having quite a few problems.

Problem 1: Video quality seems pretty bad. There is a lot of color banding in darker scenes, almost looks like a 16bit image or something. Are there better drivers for DVD playback? Can somebody share the 'best settings' on their ATI card and/or DVDGenie? The overlay seems to be off by a bit also.

Problem 2: I can't get the 4channel downmixing to work. I have the most recent SBLive drivers and the 4.1 Logitech speaker system. If I set DVDGenie to downmix to 4channels it doesn't seperate the rear channels. I'm using the THX Audio test on my T2 DVD to test. Any ideas?

What I'd like to do is play DVDs with my ATI player, using the Radeon's DVD decoding, w/ 4.1 channel sound. Is that too much to ask!? :)

Any advice would be greatly apprecaited.
