ATI Drivers: Delete old drivers?

Is it advisable to delete old drivers on my Sapphire Radeon 9500 pro before installing new ones? I seem to get that impression....
 
Go to add/remove programs. Remove the control panel and the drivers (in that order) and then reboot.
Install the drivers and reboot.
Install the ocntrol panel and reboot again.
 
Hmmm. I just installed the 3.2's over the 3.1's and have not had any problems. I guess I should do this nect time though.
