ATI drivers and slackware 10.1

Hey guys i'm having a bit of trouble installing the newest linux radeon drivers from ati's site on my install of slackware 10.1.

I've used swaret to update to current and i've compiled a new 2.6.11 kernel with agpgart as a module along with the module for my appropriate chipset if this helps anyone...

since i'm on slackware i have to convert the RPM that ati gives us into a tgz using rpm2tgz then i use installpkg to install it

i then move to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/ and try to execute make.sh

i then recieve a ton of errors mostly about memory something or other

i tried a vmalloc.patch patch files that i found on the rage3d forums but it wouldnt patch...

soo this is where i stand, i need to get these drivers installed so i can use my second monitor... argghhh this is driving me nuts

nvidias drivers really were a lot better than ati's

nope its a radeon 9600pro, single card, i believe i need the proper radeon drivers to get it to drive both monitors as one big desktop...

also thank you so much for that link to that slackware package, i didnt even think of that

i'll let you know what happens
