ATI driver question?

My friend just recently purchase the ATI Radeon 64MB VIVO. He is running windows 2000 Professional on Epox-8KTA2 VIA Apollo KT133 AGPset. and he has downloaded the newest beta driver from rage3d.com for the videocard. However, whenever we start to play diablo after serveral minutes, his monitor just go blank and the whole system just freeze. I wonder is it the driver problem or what kind of driver should I use and most stable? He has updated his windows with windows update website, and have download the newest VIA 4 in 1 service pack from the motherboard website plus upgrade to the lastest bios already. Thanks. One more thing, do we need to change it back to AGP 2X? and what other bios setting might help?

Well...that's why it's a BETA driver. If you want stability, always avoid any BETAware. FYI, BETA means PRE-RELEASE and is not the final product. Load up the latest driver from ATI (non-beta) and hope for the best.

Good Luck! 😀

nice one, but seriosuly, i have herad ppl talking using beta in their AMD machine with great stability and good performance. that's why I am asking help in this forum.

The driver works fine. Take it back to 2X, make sure all shadowing is disabled, disable Fast Writes and most importantly find ATIGART.EXE and delete or rename it.
