ATI driver for mobility 9600?

Hi I don't know if this belong in the software or general section, but if you guys could help it would be much appreciated.

I have a radeon mobility 9600 for my laptop, and want to upgrade the driver. I've visited the ati website and the latest driver out is the catalyst 5.7. But ati stated that the driver is designed for the newer X series mobility card. So basically can i still use the 5.7 driver for my older mobility 9600 card? or won't it be compatible?
