ati display properties....i'm freaking out

whenever I attempt to open my ati display properties, it seeks an internet connection. if I am not online, it asks me if I want to work offline (kind of like internet explorer). If I have a web page loading and want to open display properties, it takes forever to open as if it is downloading/uploading content but waiting for the web page to load.

what the heck is going on? is this a virus or worm? is my computer sending ati information or something?

Uncheck the "check if driver is certified" box in DXDIAG.

EDIT: I guess I could have been more helpful. Windows is trying to log on with Microsoft to see if the video drivers are WHQL certified. You can uncheck the box or just let it phone home and it shouldn't do it again.
