ATI chipset+ATI x1800xt

Hey guys, looking at possible MoBos for my pc.
I origionally thought I was going with the asus a8n-sli (as u can see below) but I was told that an ATI chipset would be the way to go if I wanted two cards in the future. If someone can clarify this... will 2 ATI cards work in SLI formation on the asus a8n-sli? Any performance difference? Thanks. The current MoBo i'm looking at is this.
 
Any crossfire motherboard works. The abit you have lists is pretty good.
Not just make sure you card is crossfire ready ( or whatever they are calling it not)
