ATI CCC vs. ATI Tray Tools

I went from CCC to the tray tools/lone drivers setup and I dont know if i like it. ATI 7.5. Performance in stalker has gone down quite a bit.
Maybe its just the drivers themselves? Everything else seems to OK, just stalker. I've had to drop the resolution from 1920x1200 to 1600x1200 with only minimal gains in FPS.

This is with the rig in my sig. Maybe i'll try the CCC again and see what I come up with.

😕

The performance should be exactly the same if you're using the same drivers. Make sure that you have the same graphical settings enabled in ATT that you used to have earlier.

Hmm, i uninstalled the old drivers, installed the new CCC 7.6 and must have jumped 25FPS.
I mean literally it was in the low teens before WITH crossfire enabled....😕

I think i'll stick with teh CCC for awhile. Seemed like something was funky.

Before you installed ATi Tray Tools did you remove CCC through add/remove programs?

Having both CCC and ATT installed at once can produce some interesting results.

Oh yes - but for some reason i would get a program crash AFTER i uninstalled CCC as it was still in the add/remove list. When i would go to uninstall it again, it would crash everytime😕
I could never completely remove it no matter what i tried...

maybe i'll try it again in the future but not yet😀

man, ATT is just so much nicer, its amazing how some 3rd party work can put 1st party stuff to shame...and they do it for free. Why don't 1st party companies hire out?

7.5 Cats suck at STALKER

you get a 25 FPS improvement just my going to Cat 7.6

no difference between CCC and ATi TT in performance although CCC is some nasty bloatware [imo]

I only use ATT to keep my X1950XTX fan running faster. CCC never works right in the fan dept. My system would freeze because CCC never kicked up the fan.

i agree, thats why i tried it...
7.4 CCC was fine for stalker and i never read anything in the release notes in 7.5 saying performance would be affected😕

Good article, although I thought they were a little too lenient on AMD and Nvidia. There is really no excuse for their professional developers doing this bad a job compared to the fanmade programs.

I only use ATT to keep my X1950XTX fan running faster. CCC never works right in the fan dept. My system would freeze because CCC never kicked up the fan.

My card behaves like that too. The fan speed increases but not fast enough to counteract the heat and the system crashes after a while. I don't like the steadily increasing pitch of the fan noise anyway and have ATT set it to a constant speed when running games.

I'm sorry guys, I forgot it doesnt translate too well in the written word.

My post was 100% smart-ass.
Obviously we all know anandtech very well.
The article is very recent and contains tons of useful info on exactly what the OP needed.

Which is why I'm so darn MAD! :|
How in the heck can a AT forum member not check the most obvious place especially when the front page had this article VERY recently?

So I used sarcasm to cover my attitude.
