ok, i have tried everything i have read about problems with the AIW 9700 pro.
Problem: after installing catalyst drivers(off CD, 3.1, and 3.2), my system reboots fine. then, when i manually shut down or restart through windows, my monitor LED just flashes green after the XP load screen. after resetting, it tells me windows did not start properly, blah blah blah. the thing is, it works as long as i select "Last Known Good Configuration". all the drivers are installed and are supposedly working properly.
Using Last Known Config isn't perfect either, sometimes i'll just get continuous "Insert Program Namehas encountered a problem and needs to close" windows. The reason why i think it is the catalyst drivers is bc before i switched PSUs i kept getting an error dialog, when i could make it into XP, saying the instability was caused by the ATI Display Driver.
Attempted Fixes:
1. switched mobos (Asus P4S8X to MSI 648 Max-L)
2. took out SoundBlaster and now use onboard sound
3. replaced PSU with Antec TruePower 330W, jump from 15A to 17A on +12V
4. Radeon has its own power connection
I also have the latest drivers for my chipset utils. if anyone has any info, please help. sorry for the lengthy post.
