If you are only playing Half-Life 2 then we recommend you to install the Catalyst 4.12 Beta drivers because they just rock! For any other game it's not that much important to download the beta version, just the latest final 4.11 is good enough. Keep in mind that every new driver release has a lot of improvements, bug fixes and many more. So we recommend to always update to the latest stable version if possible.

Maybe I can't read the figures right but going from 4.11 to 4.12 beta seems to increase framerate by 1-2%.... It's not what I would call earth shattering

I agree,however I think they are trying to say for best performance with HL2, use the 4.12 beta driver.
I would recommend staying with the official 4.11s until the official 4.12s are out, that`s only weeks away.

Bottom line it`s always nice to get any increase in speed from a video card driver providing stability and IQ are not compromised.
