lol but really why would I keep underperforming drivers -- especially when the low fps goes even lower?

:p

I also am experiencing a big drop in frame rate on my x800 pro with 6.7, on top of that the Catalyst control center will not even run. tried reinstalling twice.

what version is half decent? I've been using 6.6 but now I wonder if that was flawed too.

So I guess the general consensus is that this driver is not worth upgrading to? :p

Did you guys use Driver Cleaner Pro before installing the new drivers?

Since this is a rare problem with Cats, try them both if you really want to know which are best for you. Remember you'll have to keep them for about a month...

I ran subjective test on my games (just played a couple of minutes of intense parts) and came away feeling that the 6.7 cats give me a little more chugging.

My F.E.A.R. scores went up... 72fps average, at 1920x1200, with a mix of med/high settings in-game.

I dont run 3dmark crap, so I cant check that.

Ahem...
I see your sarcasm...but will remind you that using benches helps diagnose driver problems. Running 3dmark06 just placed the last nail on the coffin on these drivers for me.

Don't be a jerk :p

And 3dmark is never the same either.. You could run it again and score 250 points higher..

And a brand new Linux driver (7/28/06). AMD (adamant supporters of Linux) must have whipped them into shape. :)

These are no good for dual display. Display no.2 keeps dropping off and has to be turned back on!

grrr damn it... just got around to trying the driver last night but it seems the centered timing still doesn't work with the 2405FPW.... can't believe they aren't capable of fixing this... :frown:

on the bright side, did manage to try WoW, and it seems to have fixed some bugs.. i've been using 6.3 because 6.4 & 6.5 sucked in WoW. Framerates were horrendous for some reason when flying through forests (in the low teens) and in general while using 6.4/6.5; but 6.7 seems to have fixed that now (getting about 40-50 FPS in same forest area, which was what i was getting using 6.3).. overall, seems better at least in WoW.

I tried these again with oblivion and I got very noticeable slowdown compared to the oblivion 6.6. Crossfire was enabled too (I also forced it with CAT AI advanced) and it ran visibly worst than 6.6 chucky.

Strange! Back to 6.6 chuck and all is well.

gersson, do you have an estimate of average drop in FPS? don't have oblivion to test it out (spent over $1,000 on vid cards and now don't have enough money for games :D )

as a side note, did try the Prey demo (as you can see i'm running a lot of demos instead of actual games :) ) and they seem to have added the profile. running 6.7 seems to give a bit more FPS (seems to nearly max out at 60 FPS throughout the demo) than when running previous versions + renaming to doom3.exe

also, 6.7 seems to be producing some weird problems with images - i.e. on FEAR demo with 4AA, objects such as boxes in games seem to exhibit really fuzzy looking lines on verticle edges. Prey demo also produces weird looking "jagged white...things" on objects such as fences. can anyone else verify this?

Anyone find that Stand By no longer works with 6.7? My monitor would turn off but not the PC.

I've seen what you mean with the the white outlines. I think it's fears fault cos it also used to happen when I had 7800GT SLI (november-ish)
