ATI catalyst 6.4 and CCC - Overdrive missing/not working

I just finished installing new ATI 6.4 drivers (cleaned all with driver cleaner before installation), and after that I went to check the CCC for overdrive settings (and to test my new X1900XT card). But for my surprise the overdrive sliders don't work; they are just stuck at stock settings (stock settings are as a minimum and maximum and both sliders are set at top position which are same), 621/720 is all I can get.

I used to have the overdrive work just fine with my last card (Sapphire X1900XT, which was defective and I had it replaced), but now with my new ASUS EAX1900XT the overdrive doesn't work.

Does anyone else have had the same problem, or does anyone have a solution for this?

I think that the cat 6.4 driver s are kinda glitchy. I have a bunch of probs like hanging even though I properly uninstalled and wiped the 6.3s first...

Go back to 6.3 and see what happens.

I used driver cleaner to erase 6.4 drivers and reinstalled 6.3 drivers. Still the same problem, ovedrive can't be used (Overdrive just sits on the stock speeds, not able to change them). Can it be because of my new card (ASUS EAX1900XT)?

I tried this thing with the ASUS specific drivers also (which came on the drive CD), but it is still a no go. I don't know what to do. I think that the ATI Tools would do the job, but it just seems weird that the Overdrive in the CCC isn't working for me. And the CCC is the easiest way to start.

does anyone know if these EAX1900XT boards need any specific drivers, or what is the problem?

seems like a driver issue of some sort. With a new card maybe try reinstalling the newest chipset drivers and make sure bios is up to date.

BIOS is up to date (latest), but I have to check the chipset drivers. Nvidia nforce (my motherboard is ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe) drivers update so rarely that I've forgot to check those.

I'll check and try that. thanks.

All drivers are up to date at the moment. I used driver cleaner in safe mode to get all old drivers cleaned. still the problem is there. can it be that ASUS has put some own features to the cards bios, and that is why all the functions (like overdrive) aren't working?

Just shut down the 2d-3d clock change process, and use ATI Tool, changing the core voltage to 1.4V (3d settings, 2d=1.175)

6.4's were messed up for me. I had some weird artifacts right after the windows loading screen. Switched to 6.3 and it was gone.

Both 6.4 and 6.3 had the problem with Overdrive. I'm running the "Chuck Patch" at the moment and I decided to uninstall CCC.

My question is that how can you set and control AA and AF modes after removing CCC? In Oblivion I have HDR enabled from the software and I used to run AA from CCC. After removing CCC I can see my AA settings are still on (4X FSAA), but I don't know where to disable or set it outside CCC, for example while benchmarking. My 3DMarks are lower than normal (when I tested it), and I suspect that it is because of AA -mode is still on, even in 3DMark05 and 06.

Installing ATI Tray Tools solved the problem, I can now use AA and AF settings directly from Tray Tools and use ATI Tools for controlling clocks, voltages and fan speeds (When needed). Does anyone know if there are any problems running ATI Tray Tools and ATI Tools together? If I remember correctly, Tray Tools Overclocking doesn't work with X1x00 -series cards, or do the newer versions support that yet?

I'm just glad that I got this thing working, the card is amazing:)
