Is it just me or some others have same problem? Restarting after installing it and once I'm on desktop, an error message shows up:

"Application failed to initialize properly. Click OK to terminate program."

After click on OK, when I try to open Catalyst control center, same message shows up. So what's up with this? I install this sh!t to use it, but not for this! Until ATi fix this, I'm stuck with Cat 5.5.

yup that's a .NET problem. piece of utter crap. poorly-coded .NET apps are the worst of both worlds...i have that everytime I install an ATI update (on other PC) and never used to have a problem with the old control panel. i'm glad nvidia doesn't use .NET. yes i know ATI still offers the old control panel but it doesn't have any new options...(I think)

anyway...to fix it you have to uninstall catalyst before you install an update...that will probably fix it.

You don't have to use the ones with .Net

then you don't get the new options (I believe?) at least that's the way it was in one of the releases. i'm not sure if that remains. still there's no reason CCC should be so poorly coded.

CCC works fine for me. I like the new features, and the 5.7's and 5.8's look very good with many new features. Especially the HDTV part.

I uninstalled CAT 5.5 first then installed CAT 5.6 and then had this problem. So what am I missing?

I assume you have run drivercleaner when installing new drivers? This is a must for everyone updating drivers, probably the cause of many problems being that people havent used drivercleaner.

Again, do you have .NET installed?

Sounds like the problem to me, if you use the new CCC you must have NET installed, you can use the old ATI control panel package without NET,go to ATI'S website you will see different download versions depending on if you want to use CCC or not.

Driver Cleaner is excellent but remember to follow the instructions to the letter in the readme file.

Do the 5.6 drivers fix a specific issue for you? I usually dont upgrade drivers on my machine till it fixes an issue I have or I just feel like it.
