ATI Catalyst 3.0 DX9 Drivers Download

That was fast . . . 🙂

And TWO versions - one set "certified" for the 9700/9500 and the other "uncertified" for older Radeons.

And all the "pretty" DX9 demos you could want. 😀

Click on the link and read:

instructions for download

1. Install DirectX® 9 and Reboot
2. Install Drivers and Reboot
3. Install Demos/Screensavers

ATI links to MS' DX9 D/L page for you.

EDIT: Oops, ATI forgot the MOST IMPORTANT step:

4. Reformat and Reinstall O/S
and
5. WAIT for DX9.1

lmaorofl!!!

This new driver contains fixes for the following items, regarding the 9700x/9500x series of graphics boards:

1) Stuttering in most applications, such as UT2003, Aquanox, etc... Some apps (rallisport comes to mind) show some stuttering in all graphics cards, esp when paging in new data. Both GL and D3D should show improvements (but D3D should get the most).

2) Mouse lag in D3D. Should be much better.

3) Min FPS in some cases (GL & D3D). We expect improvements in some of the suprisingly low with greatly varying frame rate cases. If you were CPU bound, then you probably are still, however (so if you "maintain" a low FPS, it's probably a CPU limit).

If you still notice any problems, please report it to the catalyst crew, but if you still see any of the above issues, check to see if others are seeing them around here. We haven't tested every single app and HW configuration, so we still need feedback if someone sees problems.

All works well, just remember the WDM capture driver (install after DX9 but before the Catalyst drivers) for us AIW owners.

Ok I am a little confused on the certified and uncertified editions of catalyst. I own the Radeon 9000Pro, so what driver do I download?

why do you have to reformat and reinstall the OS???

it was a joke

Not a joke here...exactly what I had to do... my sound went wacko on me...every thing echoed.
A Joke? . . . well, not really if you lived through previous releases of Microsoft Direct X. Us "older" guys now wait to see how trashed the systems of the early DX adopters get. Then we wait for Version X.1 (and perhaps a few days after that). Why would I even bother to install DX9 when (1) my video card doesn't support it and (2) there are NO games that use DX9 yet. Unless you are impressed by "pretty demos". 😛

Now you see WHY M$ created the "restore" feature of XP (I'm still on 98SE and 2KPro).
