ATI Cards using 16bit colors by default in OpenGL apps?

I recently downloaded the Rage 3DTweak software, and while I was messing with its options I found out that under the OpenGL features tab, a feature that was called "Force 16bit colors" was set to "enabled"! That was on the OmegaDrivers based on cats 4.8, I uninstalled the drivers and installed the OFFICIAL 4.7 cats, same thing! Uninstalled and installed the OFFICIAL 4.9 cats, still the same, "Force 16bit colors" was set to enabled! Anyone noticed this thing? And is there any other way I can check if the colors are actually set to 16bit in OpenGL apps? Because it might be a Rage3DTweak bug. It might also be a trick from "ATI" to increase OpenGL performance

p.s: I alwasy use DriverCleaner while changing drivers.

Uh, no. You just screwed something royally in your Catalyst-Omega-DNA gangbang of drivers you've got there.

16-bit colour would be noticed in a heartbeat.

16 bit color is very easy to notice. 16 bit textures is also pretty easy to notice.

I haven't noticed anything. If you haven't noticed it then, there's probably nothing wrong. If you have, I don't know, maybe it depends on the setting you choose for the omegas or something.

Yea, idk whats up with the 16 bit color, but i doubt that to be the case.

But I actually notcied some low quality colors on the shotgun and other objects (light sources and stuff), I'll post some screenshots next time I play the game.
Aren't there any RageTweak users here? Can you check this option and see what is it set to? And as I said before, I use driver cleaner in safe mod during the installing/uninstalling process, so I don't think I screwed up with the drivers, and I just used a single omega drivers pack once, the other drivers were Official, there's no DNA, W1ZZARD and stuff!

I wish that tweaker worked, but unfortunately, it doesn't on my comp.

You can tell 16bit color, when you see smoke, translucent things appear very grainy.

16bit textures is a bit harder to tell, but it would pretty much look like really low resolution textures in a high res texture game. Make them look very bland and blurry.

Nowadays modern cards are slower with 16bits colors than with 32bits so there's no point in having 16bit colors in default.

I can see this beeing tried with Original Radeon/GeForce series. But not with newer cards, GeForce 4 and up..
