ATI Card Installation Questions?

I've heard many different people speak on how to and not to install a radeon card, and the drivers.

If you have a fresh install of windowsxp, and you take out say your nvidia card, and run the add/remove program in control panel, and detonator destroyer.....
reboot, put in a radeon 9700, and reboot, should you be ok?

Only problem i see is detonator destroyer doesnt work in xp.
Shouuld i scan the registry for say, "nvidia" and remove anything relating to that?

acutaly that is exactly what i did. a whole lot of f3, del, f3, del, and so on. i serched for both "nv" and "nvidia" and it all came out great.

I have used that cleaner but it still did leave some reminence items but it may have been more related to the DV card I have and all the software and drivers that are needed to be loaded...

I keep my C; drive very clean and simplified so I can just reinstall winxp when I need to doa whole round of driver updates...I have no real issues since cats 3.0 so the need isn't really there to jump on each update....rteally only update if you have issues, don't get caught up in a 3dmark world..
