I thought I'd post a price/performance breakdown of all modern Ati, Nvidia cards to date for people with these type of questions. These prices are the lowest prices I could find vs performance.

I'll bump that. Good work. One thing I liked that you listed prices shipped. Would be a little more helpful if you gave the out of pocket expense then gave the price of the rebate. It is a little misleading.

this is a great thing to view today, but the problem with making it a sticky is that in a day or a week or whatever it will be outdated. nvidia sales will be weaker than expected and they'll cut prices, or amd will come out with r700 in april as apoppin predicted, or amd will cut prices to maintain market share, etc etc etc. Still a great read right now for somebody who's looking at video cards.

It 660 on the core out of the box.

BTW the X2 is only the fastest card in certain titles. It is just as likely to tie other high end offerings or offer far worse performance-

Sometimes you get left with less than a single card's performance with on board Crossfire enabled. Titles I am aware of this occurs in; SupCom, Gothic 3, NWN2, Need for Speed: Pro Street, WiC on the DX10 path with AA, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Tomb Raider: Legend, Hellgate: London, and Jericho with edge smoothing active. There may be more.

I also experienced other odd things with on board Crossfire active like; flashing distance textures in Crysis on the DX10 path, horrid stutter in The Witcher in the trade and temple quarters, and flickering|pulsing that was noticeable in Oblivion: The Shivering Isles at night.

It's an unpredictable card performance wise, and you'd do well to make sure it plays the games you wish to play well. Make darn sure you buy it from a dealer that allows you to return for a full refund in any case, ie not Newegg.

3850 256mb dropped 5 bucks to 156.00$ shipped.

You should update your list to CLEARLY differentiate the 8800GT 256MB from the 8800GT 512MB as they are VERY different from each other (that extra 256MB of VRAM makes for a HUGE gap in performance). In fact you should COMPLETELY remove the 8800GT 256MB from your list, the 9600GT is cheaper and much faster, making it pretty much obsolete.

Suggestions for you list: Avoid making rebates suggestions, not everyone likes them and they are not always fast or even work. Price after rebates should be noted with "AR" after the price. Also, try including shipping costs with your recommendations, NCIXUS charges 12$ for shipping and without the little rebate thingy you are actually looking at $232 dollars.

Other than that, I think it's pretty good idea to keep a constantly updated list like this as a sticky, Tom's Hardware features monthly articles on this subject but I think a user maintained thread that is constantly updated (not just monthly) with user input would be much much better.

:thumbsup: esp on the 8800gt 256 mb comment. the 512mb card is vastly superior to that one.
