ATI/AMD RMA.

Well I've got to RMA my GPU to ATI in a few days and I'm wondering what their RMA process is like. I've hear some horror stories with RMAs with other companys so I'm hoping this won't be the case.

Anyone dealt with it? Any problems or any comments? Thanks. 🙂

Btw I figured this would be the best place to post this, as it doesn't really fit any other forum.

I know with other companies that deal with ATI having problems with 'their' RMA, but not so much ATI.

A couple posts I've seen over the years people are more likely to get better results going direct to ATI than say tigerdirect, or newegg, etc. I have never had a problem with RMA's with anyone though.

RMA process through ATI was pretty painless for me, I had a cooling problem with my 8500dv, its a known problem. If I wanted it right away, I had to pay them the value of a new one while the return was in-transit, otherwise I would have to send it and wait for it to be evauluated and then returned "fixed". I also had to file some Import/Export agreement paperwork because I was sending the cards back and forth over the border into Canada. Things went pretty quick and my credit card was debited in a reasonable timeframe. I'm still using both of my AIW 8500DVs, except for Widows update screwing me up on drivers, they have been working great.

What's wrong with your graphics card?
Huge memory artifacts. Nothing I've tried (and believe me I've tried everything) has curred it.

I RMAed my 9800 XT back in the day and had no problems. I think it took about a few days to get there and then from there about another 3-5 days to receive the replacement.

Urgh. I'd like to just go through NewEgg but they don't have my card in stock, I'd have to settle for a "comparable" item. Which means I'd get stuck with a fanless x1300 that is super over priced. X(

I'm going thru the RMA process now. They received my card on the 16th, and I just got an email last nite saying it was sent overnite yesterday, so I'm hoping its at home when I get there tonite. Be glad to have my system back together. They quote 10 business days from when they receive your card to get it back out to you.

Filling out the online form was pretty easy. They just needed 2 part numbers from the back of the card and a description of the problem IIRC.
