ATI all in wonder driver debacle

I got a 9800 Pro all in wonder the other day and installed the drivers that came with the card. If you've ever installed these then you know it has a ton of different programs tp install. I noticed that the driver was from April 2003, so I went to ati.com and got the latest Radeon Driver and installed it... now every time I reboot the computer can't find drivers for 6 different multimedia hardware things on the card (TV tuner, decoder, etc). I tried reinstalling the Multimedia Drivers to no avail. This happened with my all in wonder 7500 card too and I ended up reinstalling the old drivers just so I could play games. What the hell is going on? How do you upgrade JUST the video drivers without messing up all the others on the card???

Uninstall all drivers.
Use Drivercleaner.
Install the latest drivers, along with WDM drivers.
Install MMC.

If you bought it and have the receipt, just return it and get a regular 9800 Pro and get a TV tuner card. I gave up on AIW cards long time ago, after countless reformatting and trouble-shooting. I love ATI's hardware but don't think their driver team is too competent.

And chances are, even if you get it to work for now, the future drivers will inevidently screw it.

I've already used the ATI driver cleaner. For some reason you have to sue the original CD or your multimedia stuff doesn't wat to install.

Don't use the "ATI - Software uninstell utility",it will un-install ALL ATI software..Just remove "ATI display drivers" in windows "Add or Remove Programs" list. You should also remove "Catalyst control center"as well.

In many cases you cannot since the WDM drivers (for AIW's multimedia functions) are matched with the specific graphic driver.

With AIW cards, I'd recommend just downloading and installing the full driver pack each time so you don't mix up the drivers. Make sure you read the installation notes.

When using the install package, choose custom install and it will give you options of installing: Video Drivers; Control Panel; WDM Drivers.
