Everyone other than me probably knew this, but the ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9600XT and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 are not compatible. ATI Tech support tells me the graphics will work, but the TV, DVD, audio and video tools won't.
As I've just built a new AMD 64 computer around this card, which I chose because of the tools that now won't work, you might say I'm more than a little miffed.

ATI TECHNOLOGIES - IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU PUT THIS INFORMATION ON YOUR WEB SITE BEFORE YOU SUCKER ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

In fairness to ATI, this is XP MCE 2005 you're talking about, not regular XP.

People using MCE are supposed to either buy a prebuilt system, or be a hobbyist who has read enough to understand that MCE is not regular XP and won't support everything that regular XP does.

"Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is a Windows XP operating system available only on Media Center personal computers. Because of their special hardware feature requirements, Media Center PCs running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 are available only from Microsoft PC Manufacturer partners."
MS on upgrading to MCE

It is up to you to find out what hardware is supported, not to assume everything is supported in MCE just because it's supported in XP.

MCE 2005 is available OEM only, meaning YOU are the system builder, its up to YOU to make ure your components work.

Maybe you should do a little research:

ALL-IN-WONDER? Series are not currently supported under Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Certified/compatible RADEON? PC Graphic Cards or Integrated Graphics Products are optimized for Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 when coupled with a supported TV or DTV Tuner product, such as the ATI E-HOME WONDER? or TV WONDER? ELITE.

I don't see MCE 2005 as a supported OS for AIW, and the drivers specifically say they are not.

That aside, AIW cards actually do work in MCE 2005. Look for a link, but installing the NSP WDM drivers and MMC 9.06 will enable the tuner.

edit: fixed link

Well thanks for your cheerful responses. Dave you are quite correct. It is MCE 2005 I'm talking about. The words "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005" in my first sentence was probably what gave it away huh! Oh and the bit about, in bold no less, MCE not being regular XP. Brilliant!!

And rbV5, thanks for taking the time to come back with the second informative message. So necessary to get your little point across.

Just to dispel a recurring belief, I actually did a lot of research and scoured the ATI and microsoft web sites. Obviously not well enough although the references in your responses are not bullet proof.

Anyway, enough said. Now next time you venture out, just stick to the facts and leave the "I know it all" attitude at home.

I just can't help thinking of the collector card seller from the Simpsons.

Yeah, but MCE should have been in your topic title or summary.

I suggest a Hauppauge tuner for MCE. ^^

Topic Title: ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9600XT WARNING
Topic Summary: Windows XP Incompatible

nowhere inside either the title or summary do you mention you're referring to MCE2005. Indeed, you imply that you are talking about the workstation OS Windows XP which is, indeed, compatible with windows xp. So for anyone to see that you're full of crap, they'd actually have to enter the thread.

Second, no one is going to be giving you an informative post simply because you didn't ask a question. You're just crying into your spilled milk.

Third, hahahahahahahaha! fool!

Hint: Next time you do "research" try typing into the search engine on the respective site. Typing "MCE 2005" into ATI's search engine on their front page yielded Link clicking on link 2 of 2 yielded this page:Link
Q7: Is my RADEON VIVO or ALL-IN-WONDER® product supported in Windows XP Media Center Edition?
A7: ALL-IN-WONDER® and VIVO variants are not currently supported under Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

.

I guess the facts are that you didn't do your homework and you can't post a respectable rant. You have the wrong Operating System in your subtitle, the first poster "very politely" pointed out your obvious mistake, which you flamed him for like some nOOb and it took you a full day to come up with a particularly weak retort....very impressive:)
