Hello everyone,

I placed an order for this card, from ATI, a month ago, when they were on back order. I phoned ATI and they said they couldn't tell me when they would have stock, only that when they did, they would notify me. It's been a month already; what's a normal or reasonable amount of time to wait for something like this?

Is it possible they will never have stock, as it's discontinued (from my understanding) and will not notify me?

thanks,

John

It seems to me they have been clearing out such parts for quite awhile and even using up leftover XT cores by selling them as XL going back to Spring, at least (thus discounting to a lower price point without upsetting the channel).

I would try contacting someone higher up. The order monkey may not be privy, informed or even care about anything beyond what there terminal shows them which in turn may not be updated by another monkey with anything more pertinent than in stock and out of stock.

Just for giggles ask them about ordering something that is not shown on their web site and older than even their clearance items like a 9700 or such. If they reply out of stock rather than discontinued and never-to-be-available then be afeared, muy afeared!

Anyhoo, what price did you get? allstarshop had 'em for $150-ish shipped recently but I think they are back up to $155+ for OEM and $165+ for retail.

Auric,

thanks for the reply and information.

I got it as part of the trade-up program @ $119.00 cnd or ~ $ 106.00 us. It's a great buy; that is, if it ever actually materializes. Gee, a month is quite a wait.

Anyway, again, thanks.

Well,

I just called ATI and apparently the item was discontinued and there will be no more stock. So, it seems I'm SOL and back to where I started from! lol

Now what choices do I make? Gee ...

I was in the same boat as you, ordered my card on the 10th of August, finally I called and they said they were discontinued.

I ordered one for $164.00 from Chief Value, I checked they are out of stock now.

Mwave lists them in stock for $152.64 plus shipping
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Skusearch.hmx?scriteria=3592857

Ewiz also list the card but for $163.00 plus shipping ( better check stock before you order)
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-AIW800X

They are geting harder to find, which is why I ordered mine as when I found out ATI wasn't getting anymore.
The performance has been great for me, but I was using a Geforce4 ti 4400 before I got
the AIW x800xt.

I've written the ATI AIW X800XT off my list, given it's even more difficult to get a good deal from Canada.

I've decided to just wait out the X1650 pro, which is supposed to retail at $99, according to ATI. They were officially shipped on the 14th of September, but there have been no signs of them. I was told ATI should have them in stock by the end of the month.

The 7600gt is the better card, but at twice the money, it's not worth it for me.

And, while I'll be missing out on the multi media stuff, it's not that important, as I have a separate hdtv and all my music stations are streamed. I'm sure it's a nice card to have, but I figure I've missed the boat.

Enjoy,

John

Even if you wanted the multimedia schtuff, a seperate card is better than the the AIW component. 7600GT isn't quite twice as much unless $99 for the X1650 Pro is MSRP rather than a real estimated retail price. shopati is usually overpriced for new cards but I suppose at $99 it can't be marked up too much in dollar terms (as opposed to percentage), depending upon shipping prices. Have you perused eBay or the For Sale forum for an X800?

Auric,

the $99 is what ATI says the card will sell for, but I?ve seen a partnered card advertised for $149.00. It seems also that while ATI says the 1650 pro includes vivo, none of the partners, so far, seem to have done so.

I will wait and see. I phoned ATI and they said they'd likely have it on their web site by the end of this month. If it comes in at: $149.00 (which seems possible), then the 7600GT might be the better option.

Yes, I looked and the price of the x800 was already up to $140.00 and it was a day away from closing the sale.

Thanks for your response.

John
