Hey all!
Recently got an ATi-brand AIW X800XT and noticed its load temps are up in the low to mid 70's and decided that although in spec, i would like to lower them by getting an ATi Silencer fan assembly. I have read that they can drop temps by 10-15C in some situations. My question is which one is compatible with my card? I have searched forums, google and arctic cooling's site and haven't been able to come to a conclusion. Here is what I have found..
ATi Silencer 4 is for the X800 Series (this card has full ram heatsinks on front and back of card, however this cooler also has 4 cooling posts to pass thru the card) and the AIW only has 2 passthru holes on the card and no stock ram sinks.
ATi Silencer 1 Rev 2 is for ATI X800 AIW and has the correct pin-out for my card, but does not include any ram sinks and does not specifically say its for the X800 XT AIW.
Seeing as how its the same card as the X800XT (R420) i would think it would take the 4 series, but the pin outs arent correct. Anyhow, hoping someone out there might have the same card and have found out what the correct cooler (if any!) is for this card.
