I picked up an older Rage128 AIW for my HTPC....got it in trade for my 4-port Linksys router I don't need anymore.

Anyways, everything seems to be working fine...but I have a question.

Is there anyway to make a remote control work for the TV Tuner software? I know it doesn't have a direct IR connector for an ATi branded remote or anything, but are there any known plug-ins to make a 3rd party remote work?

I want to make this system run like the TiVo in my living room, but I need the remote control b/c the thing will be sitting 20' across the room and I don't feel like investing in a wireless keyboard/mouse combo for it either. I just want it to sit there.

Worst case scenario, I have to remote admin into the box using my laptop on the wireless network. I do intend to give it a 100MB connection to the wired network, or just buy a wireless PCI nic....either or

Any suggestions for a remote first, though?
 
ati sells a usb remote that works with mmc (version 7 and above?). you can download mmc 8.5 from ati website (though I am not sure it has support for your outdated hardware). ati remote wonder retails for about $50.
 
Another, less elegant, option would be to get a cordless optical mouse/trackball or one of the Remote devices made by Logitech. Some of these devices(specifically the Rmotes) can probably be programmed to specific Apps/Functions.
